SUNDAY SCHOOL
Sunday School for all ages begins at 9:30, immediately following the new child-friendly worship service at 9 a.m. Families with young children worship together at 9:00, then all proceed to the 40-minute Sunday School session or the nursery. Those who wish to attend the 10:30 service will attend Sunday School at 9:30 with those already present, then stay for the 10:30 service, with choir, organ and piano. (There will no longer be Sunday School during the 10:30 service, allowing everyone to attend the church service of their choice.)

ADULT EDUCATION
Adult Bible Study
On Sunday mornings at 9:30, we read and discuss the Gospel reading for the next Sunday. Different translations are discussed, and Dr. Trigg often translates for us directly from the original Hebrew or Greek to help clarify special questions that develop. The result is that, the following Sunday, we are really primed to receive the message from the pulpit and get a deeper understanding from the preparation the week before.
Alpha Course
The first Alpha Course was held from February through May this year. Over two dozen people participated, with the May 21 culmination dinner designed to wrap up the 10-week course. In the Fall, Christ Church will again offer the Alpha Course. This course is meant to clarify who Jesus Christ is and how his ministry has basis in the Old Testament prophecies, as well as relevance to us today. Nicky Gumbel, developer of the Alpha Course, is an Episcopal priest from Great Britain who came to Christianity as an adult. Nicky is a lively speaker who, by DVD, offers thorough, inspiring talks on every aspect of the Christian faith. Each of our sessions begin with a meal and end with a discussion in a small group. We look forward to having you join us in September for these lively sessions.
Weekly Bible Study
An off-shoot of the Alpha Course is the participants have found that they want to continue coming together for Bible study, perhaps on Sunday evenings. Plans for discussing a particular book of the Bible, or a book such as
The Purpose-Driven Life by Rick Warren, are being considered.
CALLING ALL TEENS!
Do you ever feel as if you are on a monster coaster, flying down one second and being lifted up the next? Welcome to LIFE in all its exasperating, exciting, elegant, energetic, exhausting, earth-shaking glory!
Teens at Christ Church have a class all their own on Sundays from 9:30 to 10:10 at which you can find out that you are not alone in feeling like you're a yo-yo on a string or a car on a rollercoaster.
A super course of study called "Life Rollercoaster" will guide our group through the maze of young adult experiences. Using brief DVD films and cool ideas for spurring discussion, "Life Rollercoaster" has been a big success in its brief existence. Developed by a youth leader in Hawaii, it has specific suggestions for target audiences, from middle school to high school to youth group activities.
Our group is for 8th to 12th graders, and it is open to you and your friends of any denomination (or none!) Although the course is Biblically based, it is user-friendly and is sure to intrigue you, as we discuss how to get along with the 'rents, what to do about peer pressure, dating, school, and more. After all, if Hawaiian kids could be lured from their surfboards...
